The original song goes as far back as the Civil War era, but in 1994 the Swedish Eurodance band Rednex dusted it off and put a modern spin on it. It reached No. 25 on the U.S. Billboard, No. 5 on the Hot Dance Club Party chart and No. 1 in six different countries.
